here he defies the opposition of Judah’s enemies. These enemies include Samaritians, Ammonities, Arabs and the Philistines. In order to repel these enemies each family was to build a section of a wall in front of their houses, with this, the wall was created in an astonishing 52 days which bedazzled surrounding unions.
“When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God.” (Nehemiah 6:16)

They then enter into a covenant to keep the law and to separate themselves from all other people. They understood that if they were to survive they were to remember and obey God’s law’s. Nehemiah condemns mixed marriages as one of his main concerns was that they would not teach their children the Hebrew language “the Language of Judah” (13:24) Nehemiah takes measures to repopulate the city and returns to Susa after 12 years in Jerusalem. After some time in Susa he returns, only to find that the people have broken the covenant. He enforces the covenant and prays to God for his favour.
